What's wrong with the Society ??

There is a quora user, Sumit kumar. I came across his writing while scrolling quora feeds. Read one of the best step taken by him, which will surely quench your heart.

He Writes," My friend died a few years ago.

His wife is from a rural part of India.

She was a young, newly married girl who had completed her 1.5 years of married life.

All her dreams and hopes in life were destroyed in a blink.

He used to work as a mechanical engineer, was new in the company and hadn’t even completed a year.

So, after his death, she didn’t get any benefit from the company as compensation for his loss; except the amount the company owed him for his Overtime work.

Moreover, after his demise, she was made to wear white Saari. All her Comfort and Independence were taken away.

His death was confirmed as a sudden Accident and his family got a few lakhs from LIC.

His parents kept all the money to themselves and were treating her like a slave, getting all their household works done by her in return for providing her food.

She was refrained from even going out to any function or market as well.

She was just 26 years old back then and fully deserved to live her life the way she wanted to.

During Diwali, at around 7 pm, after 2 years of his demise, I went to their house and uncle and aunt welcomed me happily. They gave me sweets and blessings.

I asked them about my bhabi( sister in law)

They asked me not to talk about her on this Auspicious occasion of Diwali.

I didn’t understand what they meant by that.

I requested them to let me meet her.

They showed me the way to her room.

The room she was made to live in, was all dark, dirty and stinking very badly.

Bhabi was sitting down on the floor, quiet, like a patient in a coma.

It was so pathetic that I couldn’t bear to see that.

I called out her name from the doorway but she didn’t respond.

I went close to her but still, she didn’t respond, No body movement at all, it scared the hell out of me.

I touched her shoulder and she looked at me. She was looking so pathetic. It seemed like she didn’t get proper food to eat. It boiled my blood furiously.

I asked her “what happened bhabi?” She wasn’t in the condition to even talk.

I understood, that it was all because of her husband’s death (My friend).

I questioned myself how in this generation can it be possible.

I lost all respect for my uncle-aunt(My friend’s parents) and I told her to come along with me, she didn’t speak anything.

I held her up and started walking her out towards my car.

Uncle asked me where was I taking her. He even resisted and tried to stop me but I didn’t give a fcuk and took her to a hotel.

I told her to go and have a bath, but still, she was numb. So, I called up a female servant of the hotel and asked her to give her a bath.

She took her in and was getting her bathed.

Meanwhile, I arranged some clothes and food for her.

She was done with bathing.

She looked a little better now.

I told her to have food which she didn’t at first, but later I fed her forcibly and she managed to eat 5 Roti( wheat bread).

Then after having dinner she cried and spoke her heart out. She told how she was tortured and everything.

It disgusted me, but after all, this is society and people. What can one do!

I told her to live with me.

Everything was going fine until this fcuking society and people started interrupting me in every work.

But I fought with all of them.

Paying hotel bills was getting over my budget.

So, I rented a small 1 BHK flat for her which I could afford.

I give her monthly 6 to 10k for her daily expenses and started treating her like my younger sister.

But this fcuking society just can’t mind its own business. What they think is I sleep with her in return for helping her. Bullshit!

But who cares?

This is very wrong with the society.
Do I need this society's permission to be a human?? "
